John : How unfair! So what did you do?

Jack : I first couldn't say anything. Then, I decided to change the subject. I asked him about his football team. He seemed very pleased. Eh ! my plan is working, I thought. So in the afternoon, I told him I wanted to leave early.

John :That was a good idea. What did he say to that?

Jack : He said : " but you still have some work to do". I answered that Jane my colleague could finish it for me. He got mad at that. " If you don't finish the work yourself, I'll ...." .
